Borussia Dortmund have beaten rivals Bayern Munich to the top of the Bundesliga albeit temporarily following a 5-1 defeat of Wolfsburg on Tuesday.
Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace, to ensure Dortmund lead the table on goals difference, with Bayern playing later today.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have now scored a whopping 17 goals in their last three games following the routing of Wolfsburg, and are level on nine points with Bayern, Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt, who are second, third and fourth respectively.
Bayern host Hertha today, with the game bearing more significance after Frankfurt also won on Tuesday night.
The win over Wolfsburg on Tuesday wasn’t the first time Dortmund are going goals crazy in a game, having secured a 6-0 victory over Legia Warsaw in the Champions League before beating Darmstadt by the same score in the Bundesliga last weekend.
Dortmund made their intentions known when they scored after only four minutes via Raphael Guerreiro, before making it 2-0 in the 17th minute with the Portugal international flicking the ball on for Aubameyang, who charged through and curled a shot past keeper Koen Casteels.
Wolves' substitute Daniel Didavi later slipped into the area to drill home a Vierinha cutback three minutes later to give hope of a comeback but the comeback was short-lived with the visitors scoring twice in four minutes to close the contest.
