It has now been revealed that a huge £80 million offer from Arsenal was turned down by Dortmund.
Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito revealed that he made enquiries for the forward on behalf Serie A side, Napoli who were looking to spend most of the money they received from the £76 million sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.
"Sometime ago, I called Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s director of football, to talk about Aubameyang [on behalf of Napoli]," the agent told Italian station Radio CRC.
"But the ‘no’ was absolutely categorical.
"I know that this summer, Arsenal offered €90m (£80m) for Aubameyang, but Borussia didn’t want to hear anything about it."
Aubameyang has 14 goals so far this season for Dortmund.
