Bastian Scwheinsteiger an “option” for Man Utd as Jose Mourinho sweats over Paul Pogba injury

Fitness concerns over Paul Pogba mean both he and Ander Herrera could be missing for Manchester United‘s clash with Swansea City this weekend, with Jose Mourinho having admitted prior to the Fenerbahce defeat he may be forced to turn to Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger, who earns £130,000 per week, had been cast out by Mourinho in recent months but the German midfielder was recalled to the first-team picture earlier this week to resume training.

Pogba hobbled off last night during Man United’s 2-1 defeat to Fenerbahce in Turkey, so the Frenchman is a huge doubt for their trip to south Wales at the weekend.
With Ander Herrera also missing with a suspension following his red card at home to Burnley last weekend, it leaves Mourinho light in midfield.
Mourinho admitted prior to Thursday night’s game that Schweinsteiger would be under consideration should United’s midfield options be reduced.

“At the moment, we have no problems in midfield like we have in defence but, if we have problems in midfield, it’s another option for us,” Mourinho said during his pre-match press conference when asked if Schweinsteiger would be considered.
