The Enugu State Police Command has denied claims of arresting a group of men who are allegedly behind the release of former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke's lesbian sex tape.
Earlier reports on Thursday, November 3, claimed that a 7-man syndicate of blackmailers was arrested in Enugu.
According to a Facebook user, Martin Beck Nworah who claimed to know the gang, they are a seven-man syndicate that specializes in blackmailing young ladies, especially students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, into sending them their sex tapes with a promise of making them famous, only to end up extorting money from them.
Nworah also claimed that the men were arrested in Enugu after a thorough investigation and that they have confessed to being the ones who released the controversial sex tapes that have become viral on social media.
However, Daily Post reports that the Enugu State Police spokesperson, Ebere Armaraizu, when contacted, refuted the claim, saying, “I’m not aware of this. No, no, no! No arrest of such was made in Enugu. I’m in the Command and if anything like that happened, I should know and make it available.
“I don’t have such report. If anything about the incident comes up in the Command, I will get back to you but for now, I can’t confirm that the arrest was made in Enugu,” the spokesperson told Daily Post.
This report comes shortly after the Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Mr Sam Okaula, said that the command is unaware of any sex scandal involving the former beauty queen.
Okaula noted that the command is yet to receive any such reports, saying, “I am not aware of any arrest of those involved or blackmailers in the matter. We have not gotten any report on the matter.
“I’m also not aware of the speculation making the round that some people have been arrested over the matter in Enugu.”
In the last three weeks, the much-publicised sex tapes showingOkeke having lesbian sex with a friend has caused reactions on the internet.
Although she issued a statement claiming that her face was superimposed on the face of the lady in the video, the claims have gotten harder and harder to believe.
