Super Falcons beat South Africa to progress to the 2016 AWCON final against host Cameroon (CAF)

The Super Falcons are through to the final of the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations with a 1-0 win over South Africa.

Oparanozie Desire netted a second-half goal to take the Super Falcons to the final where they will face host Cameroon.
It was a tough game for the Falcons who were disturbed in the early minutes by the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
It was an end to end game early in the first half and the Banyana Banyana girls were an attacking threat to the Super Falcons whose defence up for it.
Nigerian defender, Njoku Ugo was on hand to thwart a good attacking run from the right by the South Africans.

With South African growing into the game, Ngozi Okobi nearly gave Nigeria the lead against the run of play with a curler in the 16th minute.
In the 25th minute, Okobi nearly gave the Falcons the lead again after a defensive mix-up but the South African goalkeeper claimed the ball.

The Falcons broke the deadlock in the 54th minute through a free kick by Desire who fired past the Banyana Banyana goalkeeper.
The South Africans attacked in numbers looking for an equalizer by the Nigerian defence were alert.
Thembi Kgatlana was a livewire in the Nigerian defence putting defender Faith Ikidi under pressure.
Despite waves and waves of South African attack, the Super Falcons held on to their 1-0 lead to progress to the final.
They face host Cameroon in the final as they aim to defend their trophy.
