The Nigerian diva along with Sauti Sol also took to the stage to entertain the audience with her energetic performance and stage presence while also assigned co-hosting duties on the night.
The award, held on the night of Saturday October 22, 2016 at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg, South Africa, saw other artistes emerge winners in various categories.
These include her Nigerian counterparts Wizkid who was decorated with three coveted awards ('Best Male Artist', 'Artist of the Year, and Best Collaboration), Tekno (Best Breakthrough Act)Patoranking's 'My Woman, My Everything'  featuring Wande Coal (Song of The Year) Cassper Nyovest (Best Live Act), Sauti Sol (Best Group), Drake (Best International Act),Emtee (Best Hip hop act)among others.  
Yemi has been nothing but a shining star in 2016 with her management deserving of an award themselves for the effort they put into making her the brand she is today.
Since releasing her sophomore album "Mama Africa" in 2016, she has been going from strength to strength, pushing and promoting her music and persona in the faces of her audience, within and outside Africa.

Not satisfied, Alade releases a deluxe edition of her "Mama Africa" album, collaborating with more African acts such as with Kenyan group Sauti Sol in an endearing song titled 'Africa', capturing more fans on the continent.
She then reaches for and gets international appeal with her song'I want you' and also collaborating with American singer Kat De Luna for love song 'Over you'.
Undoubtedly, Yemi Alade has had a fantastic year amidst all the drama with music journalists, at least this Best Female Artist awarded her goes on to say that much.
